Feliz CumpleaƱos mi amor!

i think javier had a pretty good birthday. He got to talk to his family in Ecuador which was so fun. I made him his favorite dinner, Ceviche, which he wanted to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and this super ugly cake. It tasted good though. :)

I'm so grateful to have Javier in my life! He has to work so hard, but he always makes time for us too! he is such a wonderful daddy! Max loves him more than anything and so do I. We love you Javi! Thanks for being you!

Some new pictures of Max

How did this happen?

Max was trying to eat this tangerine like an apple.
This is the new baseball hat Grandma and Dadu got Max. It is meant for next fall so it is pretty big, but I can't help putting it on him already, it is so cute.

Running from Baby!

A couple days ago I was trying to get a cute picture of Max, but the second I pulled out the camera he started crawling at lightening speed after me. In our tiny apartment, there was no place to go! He cornered me against a wall, still too close to get a good picture, But here are the attempts. They are pretty cute too:

Funny Story

We bought our tickets for Ecuador! We are going at the end of April and we are going to be able to spend a month with Javier's family! We are so excited and I am a little nervous too, which Javier assures me is completely irrational.

So here is my funny story. The other day, i went to get Max's passport and I had to measure him to tell them approximately how tall he is. He was 27 inches tall.

Later that night I was telling Javier about it,

Me: "...And when i measured Max he was 27 inches, can you believe it?"

Javier: "Yeah 27 inches, see I do listen when you talk!"

I thought that was impressive, and a little funny that he felt like he needed to convince me, so just to tease him, i asked him, "WHat was 27 inches?"

Javier: ...uh...(a little guilty chuckle at being caught not listening, when he was trying to prove he was)

Me: that is how tall Max was, can you believe it?

Javier: Oh wow....Wait how tall was he?

So there you go. I just thought that was hilarious. Although some friends told us yesterday that that is just a universal man thing, not to listen, so I guess i can't be too hard on him.

The moral of the story: Don't call attention to your listening skills when you are not listening, unless you are fully prepared to be laughed at.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I have just learned that the orphange I worked in is in serious trouble and if any of you can help in some way, please do.

Last Winter I spent a month and a half in Ecuador volunteering in an orphanage. We had 30 babies from newborn to about 18 months. There were only two hired workers there who had to spend almost all of their time doing things like cooking for the children and washing, etc. As volunteers we took care of the babies, doing everything from bathing them, to feeding them, changing their diapers, playing with them and singing songs and giving them the love that no parents were there to give.

I just received an email saying that because of the economic downturn, they have had only half the volunteer applications and that if things do not turn around immediately they will need to STOP SENDING VOLUNTEERS to an orphanage and it would probably be the one I worked in.

Before OSSO (the organization I worked with) started sending volunteers, many babies died from lack of supervision and from lack of attention and love. I cannot bear the thought of those sweet babies being abandoned.

Please, if you know someone who would be interested in volunteering, let them know about the great good that they could do for precious children in a very needy country. Please let anyone know who might be interested.

They also really need monetary donations! In the email it said that because of rising prices and diminishing donations they were discussing whether to cut out milk, medicine, or childcare workers. Can you imagine!!!

If you would like to help, or know someone who could volunteer you can find all the information at
orphanagesupport.org.

Maybe you could also help by getting the word out. Just let others know about the need.

Thanks guys. After reading this email tonight I took one look at my sweet happy little well-fed, constantly adored baby and broke down and cried thinking about how unequal life is.

Thanks Guys!!!

Max will never have trouble getting a girlfriend...

Because girls only like boys with skills. You know like numb chuck skills, computer-hacking skills,

...catching skills...

The kid has skills!

Baby Jail and lovin' it!

Max started pulling up. Oh dear.

Funny pictures of Max being funny

Max has started getting himself trapped all the time. He loves to crawl in here, and under chairs. He thinks it is hillarious for a little while, and then he realises he can't get out. Mommy to the rescue!
And who'd of known that spaggheti noodles would make such a big hit?

Best friends

Here are some pictures of Max playing with his best friend Abe. They were due on the same day and they like to do all the same things, like crawl, teeth, shriek, you know-baby stuff. They always have lots of fun together.

And the last time Abe came over, he taught Max how to say repeated sounds, specifically "ba ba" and a little "bla bla". I was pretty excited about that since I have been a little worried that Max was not doing it yet, sohere is a short video to show it off to you all. Good talking Max! Yay for fun friends like Abraham!

The Bahms are da Bomb!

Quinn, Natalie, Ellie, Laura, and David, You guys are so fun! We loved hanging out with you! I was disgusted with myself after you left when I realized that I had taken no pictures, so I snapped this shot of all the beautiful pictures which Ellie and Laura drew for me. We love you guys!

Di's tag

This will be a day of many posts. I have a lot of new pictures, and a lot on my mind. To start with, here are some impresive and not-so-impressive pictures of our apartment:

Laundry room: Actually we don't have a laudry room, but our shower doubles as a dryer in between wash days when Max has "blown out" of his clothes.
My kitchen sink: I just did the dishes. My order of opperations when Max goes down for his nap is, dishes, then blogging.
My closet: This is one of the not-so-impressive ones. Notice the huge package of toilet paper (we bought that at the beginning of fall semester and it is only half gone. Best 11 dollars i ever spent). Also I will blame all the clothes one the hope chest on Javier. I just keep forgetting to ask him if they are dirty or clean.
My bathroom: Pretty good-mostly because my sister's family was here yesterday so I cleaned everything visible so we could show off our apartment. Although you may be interested to know that the book on the toilet is, "I'd tell you I love you but then I'd have to kill you" which is actually one of my new favorotes, It was pretty fun.
Self protrait: I think this is a pretty weird picture. What Max is doing while I am snapping all these pictures: I think i definitely should not have risked waking him up to get this picture, but I guess all's well that ends well. And my favorite room: It does not actually look very impressive right now because everything is pushed aside to make room for Max's toys which are strewn about the room, but it is usually cute. Actually i kind of like it this way too. It's more fun.

Thanks Di. That was pretty fun. It's good to show both sides.

My Snaggletooth.

After much teething, Max finally got his first tooth a couple weeks ago. Now I love his little one tooth smile And here is my favorite. After all I think it is probably a mother's duty to take and display cute little pictures of their baby's naked little bums.

Max's first role in a Movie

Our friends the Marshalls made a hillarious movie about their baby Abraham going out for a night on the town. Max played a supporting role and if you ask me they are both pretty darling. If you want to see it, here is the link: http://andrewandariel.blogspot.com/2009/01/abrahams-feature-film-debut.html It is only a couple minutes long and well worth it.

On Saturday Night, we got to watch my nieces and nephew while their parents saw a Japanese puppet show (cool, huh). It was a ton of fun. We played this game called Ruckus where you steal matches from other players and Olivia and James were sooo good at it. I loved hearing them squeal every time they stole a match!

At Javier's request we also watched the Ninja Turtles. I think the kids liked it too.

We had a seriously fun time!

Bath stories.

Max loves baths, mostly because Max loves water and he can suck the water out of his rubber ducky while he gets all cleaned up.
I didn't get a picture of it, but Max does the funniest thing lately. When I lay him down in the bath he keeps turning his head to get a drink of water out of the side of his mouth. He just winks one eye and then goes for it. It is pretty funny.

The Adventures of Towel Baby!

My growing boy

Max is Changing so much every day! I was looking at the pictures on the blog today and thinking that they don't even look like him anymore. So here are some new ones in his manly Sunday clothes!

I'm a Happy Mama!

Javier came home today and told me he had something for me. The he pulled these out of his wallet and handed them to me.

Suddenly It didn't matter anymore that I was up half the night with Max, because I have a date tomorrow with my husband. I can't wait!

Well it's been a While!

Well, we had a great Christmas! We celebrated it first here in Provo, with just the three of us a few days early, and then, we were happy that the elements allowed us to go see my family in Boise for Round Two.Our celebration included a very small Bucheli Family Nativity program inpspired by Elder Eyring's talk at the Christmas devotional, and it turned out to be one of the funnest things we have ever done as a family, which is saying a lot. It was pretty fun! Javier was Joseph and a shepherd and i was Mary and Max was Baby Jesus and the angel. Here is a picture we took in our costumes and one of the Angel speaking to the shepherd too.

Then here are some other fun pictures from the season: This is Max's awesome Santa Suit. This picture also shows that Max's favorite toy for the past month has been the Christmas tree, needless to say, I was a little relieved to take it down.
One night, Santa Claus visited all the families in our quad. Max seemed pretty indifferent, that's probably just because he hadn't seen all the cool stuff Santa was going to bring him yet.
Here are some pretty cute pictures of Max opening presents from his grandparents on Christmas morning. His favorite part was probably the wrapping paper, but he did get pretty excited about these awesome toys too, once they were unveiled.

Here is a picture of my Dad holding Max and his little cousin Addie. Max just could not get enough of her! Every time he saw her he wanted to pet/grab her face and hold her hands. It was pretty cute.
And here are some random pictures i took of SUPER BABY!
Just so you know, I only let him do this when i was right there with one hand in the tree so I was sure it wouldn't fall.
And this is my favorite picture, because that ornament was just high enough that he couldn't grab it so he started yelling at it.
