Javi 5s

We saw this on our friends the Farsworth's blog, so I am going to copy them. Here are some things you may or may not know about Javier.

5 Things Javier loves:

1) Playing with Max
2)Dragon Ball Z
3) Checking the Wall Street Journal website EVERY DAY (and commenting on the funny pictures of stock brokers)
4) Playing games (especially money games)
5) Toys! Whenever we go to my neices and nephews house Javier can always be found having a sword fight with my nephew and raving about how cool all of his toys are

5 Things on Javier's to-do list

1) Start a Business
2) See New York City
3) Write me a love song
4) Teach Max how to play soccer
5) Learn Italian, Potuguese, and French

Javier's 5 favorite foods

1) Shrimp Ceviche
2) Rice
3) Pizza
4) Root Beer
5) Top Ramen (Javier basically loves all food. I used to think I was a really good cook because every day at Dinner Javier would say, "MMmmm this is soooo delicoius. you should make this every day, it is my favorite food!" until one day I heard him say the same thing about top Ramen. Then I understood, its not that i'm a great cook, he is just easy to please.)

5 things about Javier that you may not know:

1) He actually loves Finance more than accounting
2) He LOVES cartoons. Whenever we turn on the TV, the first thing he finds some Marvel Comics/DC/anime cartoon and he gets really excited about it.
3) Javier is obsessed with spelling and grammer and every time he reads my blog he edits the spelling and grammer.
4) Javier actually really does brush his teeth after every time he eats
5) Javier probably checks his email 50 times a day.

5 things that make Javier special:

1) He has Super human hearing.
2) I know Max loves me too, but if I am really honest, he loves playing with Javier the most. Whenever Javier is home Max doesn't want to eat, play, sleep, or look at anything, he just wants to laugh with hisDaddy.
3) Javier is absolutely the most goal driven person you can imagine, and as a result he does a TON with his time
4) Javier is really humble. The evidence: He was willing to let his 20-year old wife teach him how to drive.
5) I love him like crazy because he's the best husband in the Whole World annd he is always sweet to me and listens to what I have to say and does what i ask him to do. He is my super Hero.

That's right

Just for the record, right before I started recording, he WAS nodding when we asked him if he loves Daddy, so we know he does.

Evidence that Max is Teething

In addition to all the other evidence ( constant drooling, biting everything he can get his hands on, little bumps on his gums, etc.) For two days Max has been going around with his mouth wide open. I have two pictures to document it.

Poor baby.

Fun with Dadu and Grandma

Every Wednesday I get to go to my grandparents house in Salt Lake. We love to see them and hang out and we have so much fun. This week, I came back from moving my car to find this:

Now do I have fun grandparents or what.

Late Thanksgiving Post

Well we had a Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday in Boise! Mom and Dad, Maddie and Sophie, Seth, Cherie, Olivia, James, Bailey, Quinn, Natalie, Ellie, Laura, and David: Javier, and I, and Max loved hanging out with you guys and we all love you!

The first night we got there immediately my 6 year old niece, Olivia asked if she could hold Max and she did a super job! She is going to be a GREAT big sister to her little brother that is coming soon. Then my four and three and two year old nieces and nephew, James, Ellie, Laura, and Bailey gathered around Max and adored every little thing he did. Max loved it. After a few minutes he started giving them all big slobber kisses and those cute kids even thought that was cute! Max has the BEST cousins ever! Max was also very interested in Davy (my one year old nephew) but I think Davy pretty much considered him too little to play with.

We had a delicious Thanksgiving (as always), we played a ton of games, saw some awesome movies and loved being near the fam. One of my favorite things we did was go the temple (thank you Mom and Dad for watching Max). It was the first time Javier and I have been to the temple together since Max was born, so that was awesome.

While we were there Max also learned the cutest new trick. He learned to nod his head. It took so much concentrated effort and he was doing it constantly. It was so darling. I was a little sad when as soon as we got home he learned to army crawl for real, and he decided that was more fun than head nodding. Alas, I should have gotten it on tape while I had the chance. But here is a video of him army crawling, it is also pretty impressive. I especially like the snide little look he gives me in the middle:

So, it was pretty much an awesome holiday! I just wanted to say that I have the best parents in the whole world. I never seem to be able to say that, but it is really true. I hope you guys know how much we love you!

Ten things I am desperately grateful for:

1. A Father in Heaven who loves me and who cares enough about me to hear and answer my prayers
2. Jesus Christ who makes it possible for me to live with him and Father again

3. The Holy Ghost who helps me to know these things
4. A Wonderful husband who is my BEST friend in the world
5. A darling baby who brings so much sunshine into my life, every minute
6. My sweet family who are the most fun and best people I have ever met
7. Javier's sweet family who are nice to me even though I pretty much stole their son
8. Three little rooms which are our space in the world which are always warm, even when it is freezing outside
9. Always having a full tummy, and always knowing that Max has a full tummy.
10. The way life keeps getting better and better

Sweatshirt date.

This week, Javier and I had to get a little creative with our date night, because he had a ton to do., so we popped a bunch of popcorn and made so,e jello and I watched Fiddler on the roof while snuggling with the homework doing Javier. It was fun!

An unsuccessful attempt to get Max's new catching skills on Camera

Well, we didn't get the catching on film, but Max was being cute, anyway so I decided to post it.

Milestones and Something that makes it all Worthwhile

This was an incredible day. Max did so many things which surprised me. I don't even know where to start.

We have a bunch of big paintings and posters on our wall and Max loves to look at them. Today I caught him looking at a Van Gogh poster of a baby learning to walk. I took him over to it and told him about what was happening and he got so excited. I wondered if he could understand. Maybe it was motivating anyway, because shortly afterward, he made them most crawl-like move I have ever seen him do. He was in the crawl position and he moved a leg and then a hand before resorting back to his army crawl/roll.

Also I fed Max peas today for the first time and after some really cute yucky faces he ate them and seemed to like them pretty well. I pureed them myself and there were one or two skins still in tact. I laughed tonight as I changed his diaper to find them there, no longer bright green but a nice shade of mustard yellow. Aparently his digestive system is not quite up to whole pea skins yet.

Probably the most awesome thing that Max did today happened while we were playing catch. We play catch at leats one time every day. It usually goes something like this. I shake the ball so it makes a noise and Max looks up at it. Then I toss it to Max while simultaneously moving his arms into the catch position. Then I clap wildly for him, then he rolls it back to me and we start all over, but today, I didn't get there to move his arms in time and guess what happened! He caught it all by himself. A fluke right? Wrong, he proceeded to do it 5 more times! I couldn't believe it! He is not even 6 months old and he is already catching a ball. Way to go Max!

Also, he has learned a really good strategy for not having to take a nap. Lately, every time I lay him in his crib (unless he is super tired) he will look up at me and start laughing. Not only does this clearly convey the message, " Mom, I am not tired", but it also makes me feel like the most heartless, horrible Mom in the world if I walk away from that sweet little laughing baby.

Tonight just as Max was almost ready to go to sleep, Javier came home. Instantaneously, Max went from droopy eyed to the happiest baby on earth, just looking at Javier, he starts laughing, and looses all interest in mundane tasks, such as eating. His eyes follow Javier everywhere he goes, and he keeps that sweet happy grin on his face, ashe tilts his head upside down so that he can see Javier even when he moves behind him. My boy sure loves his dad. I guess that makes two of us :)

So that is my account of today, but the best part happened this morning right after Javier left for School. Max was playing with my nose and patting my cheeks, and all of the sudden he leaned in and kissed me on the mouth. It was the sweetest thing! What a darling boy! I am such a lucky mom!

I don't expect these details of daily life to be interesting to anyone else, but currently this is the only journal I am keeping, so I wanted to record them. Until next time!

Max's first hair cut plus cute little shrieks!

I probably really didn't need to cut Max's hair, but I noticed it was growing a little longer on the sides than the top, and it was something fun to switch up our daily routine.
P.S. Just in case you thought it was really easy to cut a baby's hair, it really isn't.

This is Max thinking, "What is that thing buzzing on my head?" He kept trying to turn his head to look at it. Cute Baby.

And here is Max's hilarious shrieking noise. He does this every time I put him in his flying saucer toy. I think it is his way of making sure I remember he is there.

9 month clothes

It was a sad day when I emptied out Max's drawers to put his oodles of barely worn darling 3-6 months clothes away in a box. What made it just a little sadder was finding that I had waited too long to do it because he has already almost outgrown several of the darling 9 month clothes that he has never worn. Oh how fast they grow! But I'm mostly just kidding, it was only a little sad. It really makes me happy to see that he's growing so well.
Check out this onesie.

My dear friend Nicki Olivier made Max this awesome hat! I am seriously impressed with her mad skills!

17.8 pounds of fun!

Max's favorite new game is to go upside down. Every time I do it he laughs hysterically and then when I bring him right side up again, he throws his head back asking for more.

Some cute pictures from this week

This was Max's Halloween costume. He really could have been anything from a mouse to a gorilla, but he was supposed to be a bear. Our ward had a big party on Halloween and Max and I went and had a really fun time except for missing Javier. Poor Javier is working like a dog, and he couldn't get Halloween night off :( Everyone wanted to hold Max and they all raved about what a good baby he is, which I, of course, always enjoy hearing. One of the girls in my ward told me that she thought Max's purpose in life was to convince other people to have babies.

Because Javi basically missed Halloween we had some friends over on Saturday and we all wore costumes again so he still got some Halloween, just a day late.
Derek and Chantal and Kylie and Daniel were all in our ward when we were engaged and we all got married the same year so that is way fun! We love hanging out with them!
This little puppy is teaching Max how to crawl. He is actually getting kind of close. He can stay in crawl position for a long time. The trouble occurs when he tries to go forward. He will rock back and forth for a while and then lunge. Unfortunately he always ends up on his face.
There is officially nothing more wonderful than holding a sweet little sleeping baby! Max still takes between three and five naps a day. Is that normal? I am trying to keep it to three but sometimes he just can't stay awake longer than an hour. I guess he's just growing a lot?
Max has also started giving kisses and it is darling! They are really just huge open mouthed slobbers, but I keep asking for them.

Today Max was a good citizen and voted. (I guess McCain won at least one demographic, Persons 1 year and under).

Max Talk

These are the sweet baby sounds which fill my ears every day.

Max especially loves to talk when we are supposed to be quiet. The other day we were sitting in an enrichment meeting about healthy eating and I guess Max noticed that everyone was looking at the person who was talking so he started talking too, in his best, loudest, conversational voice, throwing in plenty of smiles and squeals. I didn't know what to do.

Also we took Max to a Ryan Shuppe and the Rubberband concert on Campus. There was one song where they asked everyone in the audience to howl like a dog. So everyone howled really loudly and then it was silent except for Max who let out a wail of his own just a couple of seconds too late.

Lately Max has also begun this hillarious shreiking noise which I have yet to capture on camera, but when I do I'll post it.

My little Javier!

I just thought this was such a cute picture of my boys!
Am I crazy, or does Max look so much like his dad in this picture?

Talking

The last little while Max has really started taking off with talking! Today I caught him talking to the toy monkey that hangs from his car seat while we were driving home from Grandma's house.

He sings along with me while I am singing him lullabies, and tonight I said, "I love you" and he responded with, "ah oh oo" I swear he was trying to say it back. He got a great big grin on his face like he had just made a break through. I was so proud.

On a More Interesting Note:

Max has miraculously learned how to read at the ripe old age of 5 months...
Don't believe me?
See for yourselves...

A Day in the Life of a Mother with no Washing Machine

This is a picture of our shower, literally covered in Max's clothes which had to be rinsed out before laundry day (i.e. they had been pooped out). I just found it amazing that so many outfits could be drying at the same time, it is an indication of how often this happens. In fact, about ten minutes after I took this picture, it happened again.

First Post

I am beginning our family blog, but I have no idea what to say in the first post. So I am just going to pretend like I am writing in my journal...

Max is growing up so fast, I don't know what to do with myself. He is going to be 5 months old next week and he is just delightful! He barely ever cries and he loves to laugh and talk. He is a major Daddy's Boy! Every time Javier is in the room he watches him constantly! Even when I have him in my lap playing with him, he will be smiling at Javier doing his homework next to me. In this picture he was playing with Javier's nose. In the last week he has learned to sit up really well too which is exciting!

He is very intersted in things also and I think it is cute that he is always holding something (if there is nothing in site he holds his own hands).

Javier and I are doing great. Javier just began the masters of accounting program at BYU and that is keeping him pretty busy. He is also working at the MTC teaching senior missionaries Spanish which he likes. It seems like a pretty cool job because I guess in the winter they teach mission presidents and every now and then they get to teach general authorities. One of his co-workers is teaching Elder Holland! Right now he is in the midst of interviewing for internships for next summer which has got him feeling very worried...

As for me, what's to say. I am really enjoying being a mom, but who could help it, just look at this darling baby. I am really glad to be done with school. I spend my days playing with Max and cleaning our tiny apartment over and over again. So, I guess that's all for now. We'll see if I can think of anything else to post in the next year. I love you all!
