Alfie boy is sick today. He’s had a high fever and in between medicine and doctor visits he has pretty much just wanted to sleep on me and eat. Missing family get togethers and waiting to clean up the Christmas hurricane feels like absolutely nothing to me today. Snuggling my dear sick baby is my greatest privilege. I love this darling boy with all my heart.

Mary and Martha
As I was driving one day the spirit taught me something new about this story.
I can be Mary and Martha in the story. But I get to choose each day. I am not a Martha as an identity.
Sometimes we feel like Martha had to do what she was doing and Jesus didn’t really appreciate the fact that someone had to prepare the meal. This is not trusting Jesus though. He told her “only one thing is needful”. If we trust him the way we claim to, we must believe this.
That with my crushing to do lists and the expectations of all the world on my shoulders only one thing is needful. Even the things that feel nonnegotiable like feeding many hungry visitors do not rank with Jesus.
Only one thing is needful.
If I choose the better part it will not be taken from me and I live with peace even in the midst of letting all
Those expectations take a backseat to the one persons expectations that matter. Jesus’ expectation that I sit at his feet and know him.
This is the true application of boundaries.
