And Sammy grows up.

So the day after Javier's graduation we headed down to Boise to live with my parents for a month until Javier started his job here is Round Rock. Needless to say, It was heaven. Can you imagine anything more lovely than moving in with your mom, and Dad and 16-year old twin sisters right after having a new baby? I can't. It made the transition lovely for us. Max got so much attention and Sammy got to be held all the time, and we got to spend lots of time with family before moving far far away. And watch before your eyes as Sammy got fat and big.

Little sweetheart gained almost 2 pounds in the first 2 weeks he was alive. He needed it too, if you ask me.

Of course he was still tiny though. I think this picture shows nicely how little he is next to Max and I.
A little tummy time never hurt anybody. This little monkey rolled over twice in a row when he was 5 weeks old. Then he did it again about a week later, and he hasn't done it since.
So yeah, that was pretty much heaven.

Some pictures from the hospital.

So, this is backtracking a little, but here is my labor story. I had so much preterm labor with Sammy that I was absolutely expecting him at like 34 weeks when I stopped giving myself progesterone shots. But by about 36 weeks, I started to feel a little worried that he might not come till his due date and we would be stuck at value place for an extra 3 weeks after Javier graduated which would have been horrible partly because it was a little yucky and scary and we wanted to get away as soon as we could and partly because we really couldn't  afford it since we were trying to scrape together our down payment and Javier had to quit his job because of his health. So I started walking like 5 miles every day with my sweet friends Ariel and Kate, and that gave me blisters and painful contractions 10 minutes apart for like 4 days. I went to the hospital of course after like a day of that but they told me I wasn't progressing so it wasn't real labor. Then one day I lost my mucus plug like a week later and I was sure my water broke so I went to the hospital that day too, and had to go home and by that point I hated the hospital. It is so embarassing to walk in and say, "I'm having a baby!" and be all excited and call everyone and then walk out an hour later, still pregnant and have to call everyone back and say, I was wrong. So I decided I wouldn't go back until the baby was half way out.
Then one day I was having 5 minute long contractions. I did not want to go back to the hospital, but my nurse told me I had to to make sure the baby was alright. So we went in and they watched me for an hour. While I was there I sneezed. Let me point out that at this point I had no bladder control. Anyway, without giving details, when the nurse came back, she thought my water had broken, and I was not about to contradict her since we were so desperate for the baby to come right away and they admitted me. Well the ironic thing was that I really was in labor because Sammy was born about 6 hours later and I never needed any pitocin, but I sure didn't believe I was really in labor when they admitted me. I had an epidural again, and I know that epidurals aren't for everyone, but I was definitely reminded of how much I adore them! It was such a beautiful experience. I could just focus on how excited I was to meet my little sweetie and relax and try to prepare myself while I watched that contraction monitor go crazy! When it was time to push, it just took a couple and then there he was, PURPLE! I always forget that babies come out purple. I was sure he was dead. But of course he was fine. In a minute he started screaming and they let me hold him right away from the start, which was so special. I like this picture because I think it really captures the bewilderment I felt, holding that sweet new baby that was mine. Having a baby is the most amazing thing!
It was 10:30 at night and I had basically been in labor for weeks, I was waking up with contractions in the night for a long time, so by this point I was so tired.
He was so tiny! Even though he was born at 2 weeks later gestation than Max (38 weeks) they were exactly the same size 6 1/2 pounds. Sammy was also 20 inches long.

Max loved Sammy from the first minute. He couldn't wait to see him. It made me think that maybe he really understood the whole thing all along. He was definitely excited to meet his little brother.

And here's the sweet little guy on h is way home.
I hated having to take him home to Value place. But really it was just fine. We also love, love, LOVED American Fork hospital and Dr. Haskett who delivered Sammy. THANKS so much Sarah for that Awesome reccommendation!! We love our little boy. My next post will be a million more pictures of Sammy from the last 2 months.

We're back, starting with graduation!

Well we are officially moved into our house and we finally have some internet hooked up so, we are back, connected to the world! I would normally just say forget about the last 2 months and start from now, but for the sake of family journaling, saome important stuff has happened in our lives in those last 2 months, so I'm starting with Javier's graduation today and slowly but surely I intend to catch up.
Sammy was 2 1/2 days old on Javier's graduation day. I had literally just left the hospital like at 11 the night before this. Mom and Dad, Grandma and Dadu, and Tanner, and all of us went out to lunch, and then I was going to go back to the hotel room while everyone else went to graduation. Well, I went to the hotel room, and then decided to go to graduation anyway. I was super hormonal, so I cried and cried. I am so glad that I decided to go though. Notice Max's crazy outfit. I think these were the only clothes that were clean by this point, and I think it was the second day he wore those pants even.
Here is a picture of Javier in The Marriott center right after he got his diploma.

And that is right outside

And here is the whole party right outside value place. Bless those dear people! How could we have ever survived without their help. Mom, Dad, Grandma, and Dadu kept Max during those days while I was in the hospital and Javi was finishing school and Mom and Dad brought Max with them up to Boise, so that we could just focus on our 3 day old while we moved out and made the trip up to Boise.
Cute Javier brought his cap and gown home and made an extra trip back to Provo from American fork because he wanted me to take a picture in them. I never got to go to my graduation since I had just had Max then and we were in Boise, so I thought that was pretty sweet of him.

Here's a picture of Sammy from our 6 hour trip to Boise when he was only 3 days old.

And this sweet little bundle picture was taken in Value place, the night we brought him home from the hospital. He was so sweet!

Sweet Max!!!!

Well today is Max's birthday, and in honor of the occasion I just wanted to write all the things that Max is doing these days which are so sweet!
First, He is such a wonderful big brother! Max really loves our little Sam. Every day he asks to hold him and he will sit on my lap and hold Sam for like 10 minutes and just kiss his face and hug him and say, "Our baby!" and "OHH" over and over again. He also is so tuned in to Sam's needs. When Sam is crying Max will grab my hand and say "Mommy, Baby cwyin", " Mommy, help! Baby Cwyin!" Its so sweet. He asks fist thing every morning where the baby is. And the other  funny thing, which I have no idea where he learned is that he loves to lean over Sam and say, "Goo goo, ga ga" in a really high voice. It is so sweet to see Max interacting with his brother.
Max has also become so polite lately and I swear I haven't even taught him. He has started saying thank you to me for every tiny thing, like when I change his diaper, or open a door for him. Conversely, his new favorite phrase is no thankyou. He says that all the time when he doesn't want to go to bed, or get out of the bath, or go inside, He'll yell, "No Thank YOU!!!" Its so funny.
Max is also just such a loving and wonderful child. He says , "I love you" all the time and a lot of times he will say it first. It melts my heart every time. He loves to give Mommy, Daddy, Sam, Mimi, Grandpa, Yophie, and Manny kisses every night before bed. And he loves to rub faces with Rocco (Who he calls Wocco Doggy)  All day long.
Our little Max is such a pleasure! I'm so glad he's TWO today! Happy Birthday Max!

sacrifices :)

Soooo, It is actually January of 2012 right now and I am about to make this dear old blog into a book and I realized that there are some things I want to record about our life in 2010 in it before that happens. Namely the sacrifices we made in our years in school and the incredible blessings that we received during that time both of which in so many ways have made us who we are today and so here I go...

So I'm going to start with money matters. Javier and I are pretty much a perfect match in our extreme frugality. I worked in steady jobs (ranging in hours from 2 a week to 20) from the time I was about 15, with a whole lot of delivering phonebooks and other odd jobs at impact in the summers and lots of babysitting during the school year. Javier's Dad didn't let him work until he graduated from high school but he worked extremely hard after that and neither one of us spent the money we made for example when I was a single student at BYU I was making 350 dollars a month working as an aid in a special needs classroom, but I lived at campus plaza which was the cheapest housing at BYU and rent was 200 a month and my grocery budget was $30 a month (which was pretty darn lean-chips and salsa 3 meals a day sometimes) and Javier was making way better money that me working at the MTC and living as cheaply. So when we were married we had about $7000 in the bank and 3 years left of school which pretty much felt like an eternity. After the first summer we were married Javier had to quit his job while he was going through the most intense year of school (the Junior Core). That was a crazy year. His grade would determine whether or not he would get into the masters program so it was very important and the work load was unimaginable. There is no way he could have worked and made it into the mac so we made a good decision there. SO I worked 20 hours a week that year while I was pregnant with Max and by then I was working on campus for $7.00 an hour. We lived in the cheapest apartment we could find and it was darling and we loved it and we tried to live within our monthly income and save the money in the bank. You have to remember too that every semester we had enormous expenses like tuition and books, so the whole time we were in school we almost always had huge balances in our bank account, but we never touched that money because we knew that we would need it to get through.

When I got pregnant with Max I enrolled in a government program which gave me coupons that I could use to buy some kinds of food to augment my diet. It wasn't food stamps. Javier wasn't allowed to eat the food, it just bought me milk and cheese and juice and a couple other staples that I can't remember. I felt really guilty about it at the time, but I am so grateful that program was available to us. Our diet was not adequate at that time, so much so that I fully believe that my sweet Max would have actually suffered if I had not had that help. It was a tough year for me. Javier and I were newly married and had hardly any time to spend together because of his school schedule and mine. My pregnancy was extremely difficult. I remember waking up each morning and trying to eat breakfast, but invariable I would end up hunched over the toilet throwing up. Javier would be late for school and me for work but I knew I couldn't make the walk without him without throwing up again on the path so I would beg him to wait for me while I finished puking and he was so sweet and understanding although I know being late caused him quite a bit of trouble with the teacher of that class. Always as I threw up I would feel grateful because I knew that was a sign that the pregnancy was okay and I would tell myself, "This is so worth it to have a baby!" That semester I was so sick and so tired I missed a lot of class and chose not to write several papers because I needed the sleep more. I was also so emotional, crying in class about little things, sometimes which was embarrassing. As my pregnancy progressed, I also developed Gall Stones. I would wake up in the middle of the night once or twice a week and be in so much excruciating pain that I would be rolling around on the floor crying. The pain would cause me to throw up. The first time I thought I was dying or miscarrying, but my doctor wasn't at all worried so I just kept dealing with it. These attacks would last an hour. Once it happened at work and I was crying and throwing up in the bathroom. The people around were really concerned and that was embarrassing too. One of my favorite memories from that year is how much I loved my little baby from the very beginning.  I remember each night as I walked home in the cold and dark I would sing songs to Max in my tummy and talk to him about how I couldn't wait to meet him! I have made it sound like it was a hard time and it was truly but it was also a wonderful time! The second semester I was pregnant with Max I was in  my cohort where I got to spend half my time at the university and half my time teaching with a more experienced teacher at an elementary school. It was also a semester where they say you cannot work, but since Javier's grade were very important and I just needed to graduate I took one for the team and kept my job. During that semester I also had a correspondence class in children's literature to finish in order to graduate. It was incredible, I was so busy. I had to finish a young adult novel almost every day in order to finish my children's literature class on top of working 20 hours a week and the busiest semester I had ever had at school. But the Lord helped me to accomplish it. I felt deeply his tender mercies that semester. I finished that class in fact I got an A in it and got straight As in my other classes. I Was able to really enjoy my cohort experience, receiving amazingly positive feedback from my mentor and teachers and finish school with a conviction that I would have been a fantastic teacher which meant a lot to me since I was not going to have the chance teach for a job. And at that same time, I became really the top employee at my job and had the satisfaction of being the only one who could answer a lot of questions and people requesting to talk to me when they had a problem.  Being able to accomplish all of that while I was experiencing all the trial of a miserable pregnancy was a miracle and I know that with all my heart. SO many times I would sit down to take a test I had not had any time to study for with a prayer in my heart that the Lord would help me, guessing often along the way and come out to see I had scored %100. Those times reduced me to tears of gratitude and humilty, not because I cared so much about the grade as much as being overcome by the tender expression of love from my dear father, that he would pour so much help on me to show me his love was such an evidence of his perfect kindness. I am still overwhelmed to think of it!

Well we finished that semester. We both made it. We worked hard, we were very blessed and I Was done. We went to Boise for the summer and started working for my Dad. I liked my job at first but after a month I was dreading going to work so much that one night I prayed that Max would come so I wouldn't have to go any more and the next day I went into labor. I knew I was in labor but I was 4 weeks early and having had lots of contractions already no one believed me and since I am always one to doubt myself, I went to bed and woke up a couple hours later because my water broke. See I was right! :) Max was born 10 hours later and Oh how I loved that sweet little one! I had already loved him for 9 months of course and a life time of anticipating him but it was a sweet moment to hold him, my baby, in my arms fro the first time and feel how special he was and how much Father in Heaven loves him deep in my heart. We spent a blessed summer in Boise. We ate great food, we loved being with our family. I spent all my days just staring at my baby while he slept and I never ever put him down. It was amazing!

SO I guess it is the next 2 years that I wanted to wrote about mainly, but you see I got pretty sidetracked and it is good history I guess so I will leave it there. We had a baby, 2 more years of school and now school and the money making were pretty much on Javier. Luckily he is so fantastic and he was hired again at the MTC so our apartment now was a little more expensive. We couldn't live in a studio with a baby very well, but we found the very cheapest apartment we could find with 2 rooms and paid 580 a month for it which was our entire income except for 100 dollars. SO that was our food budget. 100 dollars to feed a family of 3 was really bad. Let me give some details: I didn't eat lunch for a year. I would feed Max and finish whatever he didn't eat but I didn't make a sandwich for myself. I would buy a big hunk of cheese at costco and grate it up and put it in the freezer so I wouldn't be tempted to snack on it and that one hunk of cheese would last us an entire semester (it tasted a little funny by the end). I would put one chicken tender in a meal for all of us jut so there was a little protein, although as often as I could I tried to avoid meat altogether because it was expensive. I quickly found that tofu was cheaper and could stretch farther than chicken. We didn't have any fruit. I had powerful cravings for some foods that we coudn't afford especially honey and salsa. The best Christmas present I have ever received and the one which I was the most moved by was that year when Javier gave me a huge thing of honey and a huge thing of salsa. I was overcome with emotion when I opened them, it was so sweet of him (and much more expensive than the present I got for him too).

Javier sacrificed incredibly during this time for his education. He used to wake up at 4 in the morning to study and stay up till midnight. At the MTC his schedule was not all in a block so he did a lot of walking from school to the MTC and in the winter he did not have a good coat and he would freeze while he walked. He went hungry quite frequently too and it was much harder on him because his life was so much more physical than mine. Poor Javi, its no wonder he got so sick. He ran himself ragged.

In the middle of our time at Wymount we had an internship in New York which I wrote about already in the blog during our time in New York we were making incredible money but we lived as frugally as we did in Utah because we knew that Javier's last semester of double tuition was coming up and we would need the money.

When we got back our life resumed. It was so fun to live at WYmount! Max and I played outside everyday and made incredible, dear friends! I haven't kept up with those women but I love them dearly. They were amazing and they were doing the same things we were and living with the same and other difficulties. They were amazing!

It is interesting too when talking about money that I kept a very detailed budget during this time. I accounted for every single expenditure and predicted what every expenditure would be in the following month. I always felt it was miraculous the way we always ended up with more money than we thought we would. I kept track of each penny and still I was always wrong. It seemed like the money was truly coming miraculously, like the widow and her son that never ran out of oil. That was our bank account. There was always more in it than there should have been.

We received a lot of help too. I used to go to my grandparents house in Salt Lake every Wednesday and they were so kind to let me do my laundry there and feed me and Max 2 meals. We always had our clothes spread all over their living room and they were so sweet about it. Also they always had food that they supposedly couldn't eat. It was always something. Dadu had bought too many apples, or Grandma had made too much bread, or usually both, but they would always send me home with a big brown grocery bag filled with delicious food that we couldn't afford. Oh Sweet grandparents, I love you!!! I loved those Wednesdays! I felt like I came home full of love and buoyed up (and full of delicious food too)!

The other help we received was from my parents. this is another part of the story which has moved me to tears many times. Daddy gave all his children shares in his company about this time and we started to get distributions. One day we were staring at our bank account wondering how we were going to makes ends meet and the next day a check would come for a thousand dollars. Wow! I saw amazing symbolism in those distributions. The kindness of my earthly father and my heavenly father were one and the same at those times. We prayed fervently for the money to pay for books. or tuition, or food and a check would come just at the right time. Each one was a miracle. We paid our tithing faithfully a hundred times when we didn't know if we would have money to pay our expenses, and I felt the Lord's blessing for our desire to be faithful. We knew we couldn't afford to put off paying tithing, because we needed the Lord's blessings day to day and we certainly received them.

Javier got so sick his last year of College (I also recorded a lot of that history already in the blog) and was not able to work much and then not at all for several months and we lived on food storage for the last three months we were at school going to the store only for milk and lettuce. What a time it was when he was sick. It is till painful fro me to remember. We truly suffered then. I could not sleep when he was sick. I would watch him sleep all night and listen intently to each raggedy breath. I was so worried they would just stop coming. We were so young and so unsure. we were afraid to go to the hospital because we couldn't afford it and we weren't sure how serious his sickness was. I knew that I felt it was very serious, but the doctors we talked to always told me I was overreacting, that it was not so bad and that he would be well with just a little medicine, and I learned to distrust those doctors and start to stand up for what I felt was true. But even then I was not forceful enough. We waited a month to get into the specialist and then we were only allowed to see the nurse practitioner. One day after they had done a new batch of tests trying to pinpoint the problem I asked her what the risks were currently. She looked at me uncomfortably and said, "well, if we aren't able to figure out what is doing this to him so we can treat it, he could die." Wow. I wanted to be brave for Javier, what a thing to hear that your life is in danger. I was painfully aware of all my dear husband had endured in these last few years of poverty, all the things I had not let him do because we couldn't afford them so I took him to his favorite restaurant and we talked about nothing and tried to be cheerful but I didn't last very long until I broke down into deep sobs and he held me close and told me he wasn't going to die that it would all be alright and walked me out to the car.

There were probably many times when I should have taken Javier to the hospital I remember very clearly the first time I did. He had been sick a long long time at that point, several months. I was 6 months pregnant and experiencing lots of preterm labor. I wasn't supposed to lift anything heavier than 5 pounds and I wasn't supposed to walk further  than a few feet. And I was supposed to limit my stress levels. My doctor was really concerned that Sammy would come soon at that point. So what was I to do when Javier started coughing? Coughing so long and so hard without being able to draw a breath in between even after I put the nebulizer on? Even after I gave him 2 treatments of medication which was his maximum total distress dose and it didn't help at all and he hadn't had a breath in 15 minutes? Well I put his arm around my shoulders and picked up 20 month old Max in my other arm and I ran down three flights of stairs and across the parking lot to our car carrying them both. He coughed all the way to the hospital without a break, without a breath and I cried and cried and prayed and prayed that he wouldn't die that minute, or the next, or the next. We got there. They rushed him back, they stabilized him. I chased Max all around the hospital. they admitted Javier to stay a few days there. I didn't wan to leave Javier for a minute. I was so afraid that if I did I would never see him again, but eventually I had to take Max home. By the time we got home my contractions were powerful and after I laid Max down I worked hard on slowing them down. What a week. I tried to be with Javier every minute and we tried to be positive and we ate lots of oreos and drank lots of soda and I didn't answer my phone because nothing mattered except being together and I didn't care if people thought something horrible had happened to us because it had. It was such a delicate balance. Javier was in the hospital, maybe on his death bed, Max was sick too and I was afraid he would have asthma attacks if I left him with someone else and at that time we didn't have a really good treatment plan for him so that was terrifying, and I was contracting like crazy. We used to joke that Javier would be on one floor, I would be on another, our 3 months premature baby would be on another and Max would be wandering around the hospital by himself. It was funny but it also felt very possible.

The day after I took Javier to the hospital I had a doctors appointment and since I was so worried about all the contractions I had been having I had to go. I remember I was driving back from that praying that everything would work out. I was praying for strength to cope, for faith. I was thanking him for taking care of us, for giving us this chance to grow. I was telling Heavenly Father that I trusted him, that I knew he would take care of us and that he would cause the things to happen which would be eternally best for us all. (I  fully expected that some heartbreak would be the end of this experience, since it seemed absolutely impossible that so many things could all be worked out happily) but I did trust Heavenly Father with all my heart and I knew that if heartbreak was what was in store it would help us to be happy ultimately. But I remember saying this prayer and as I stopped for a red light a feeling overcame me, like warmth filling my heart. I felt Heavenly Fathers pure, unlimited love for me, and also for Javier and Max and the baby in my tummy. What a profound moment in my life. In fact that was probably the single happiest moment in my life! I learned then that feeling the love of God is better than having an easy life. He blessed my so much. I was able to take care of Javier and Max and in spite of being sure Sammy was coming many times, he didn't until it was okay.

The blessings kept coming, some hardships kept coming too, but so many miracles occurred. First we realized before some of these things happened that through a complete miracle we would be able to buy a house when we finished school. That was truly a miracle, partly because Dell offered us $10000 to cover our relocation and partly because we received huge tax return all of the sudden we had plenty for a down payment, although that is also part of why our last few months in wymount we didn't go to the store except for milk because we were trying to save up for our down payment.  I went down to Texas for a weekend with my mom before Javier went to the hospital and we were able to find a beautiful dream house for a ridiculously low price that was well within our budget. That was another tender mercy. It was Heavenly Father telling me he loved me. It was overwhelmingly kind and good of him!

The greatest miracle that happened though was when my old bishop (a brilliant doctor) called and listened intently while I described Javier's symptoms to him and brainstormed with me about what we should do. He told me what tests to ask for and most importantly he disagreed firmly with what other doctors had told me before that mold in our apartment was not a possible cause. Hew told me he had seen mold affect people as strongly and that it was definitely something to consider. After Javier left the hospital the second time, I never took him back to our apartment and he never got sick again. After so many reoccurences of that awful illness that was truly a miracle. Javier survived! It still feels like a miracle. I don't think a day has gone by since then that I haven't looked at my sweet husband and felt the blessing it is to have him on Earth with me still. That gratitude in and of itself is a blessing.

Sammy wasn't born until 38 weeks gestation and the most perfect possible day. Tender Mercy! And he was perfect! Healthy and sweet and the greatest reward for so much turmoil! The Lord has poured out so many tender mercies on us!

So I just couldn't make my book without including those stories. I want my posterity to know that the Lord has blessed us! I want them to see in our life that sacrifice means giving up something you want for something better. And especially to see that the best thing we could ever have which is worth any sacrifice is to feel the love of God!

Introducing Samuel Javier Bucheli!!!

Here's our newest little sweetie!
He was born April 20th at about 10:30 at night. He was 6 pounds 10 ounces and 18 inches long and just perfect! We were so grateful that he came before Javier graduated so we were able to come up to Boise and leave our hotel life behind!
Max was so excited! It was funny because I have read all these articles about introducing your toddler to the new baby about how you shouldn't be holding the baby when he comes to visit and you should bring him in later and stuff. But when Max came in he was so disappointed that he couldn't see the baby there, that was all he wanted. He has really done great! He loves little baby Sam and I am so glad!
The baby was born at 10:30 at night before the last day of finals. Javier still had 1 test to take and one paper to write. Here is a picture of him cramming for that last test. Sam couldn't have come on a better day but it did make that last day of finals pretty nuts for Javier! We are so glad that he finished! Yay!!!!!
I have a bunch of pictures of graduation but they are on a different camera that I don't have the charger cord for so I'll have to wait until we get to Texas to post them. Javier graduated with his Master's in Accounting 3 days after Sam was born. I wasn't going to go, but in the end I found that I just couldn't miss it. I went really late and left really early, but as I watched Javier walk across the stage and get his diploma, I was so glad to be there and see that moment. Tears streamed down my face as I thought about how hard he has worked and how many sacrifices he has made as he has studied and worked so hard to support us and stayed up all night so many times and missed so many meals because he didn't have time to eat and how he never complained! I am so grateful that he lived to see that graduation day as I remembered that just a little more than a month ago I wasn't sure he would! It is all such a miracle! Now he has been completely, perfectly healthy for more than a month! What an incredible blessing! Thank you so much for all of your prayers on his behalf! I am so grateful for the faith of many friends and family members for us!
Oh how we love you all!
We just celebrated our 3rd anniversary a couple days ago and it is amazing to think about how 3 years of school left felt like FOREVER then. It is such a miracle to have it behind us now. I am so very very grateful that now Javier is done with school and that he was able to get such a great education. I am grateful for the 2 beautiful boys we have to show for our 3 years together and I am so excited for the next chapter of our lives! A REAL job, family life with multiple children! It all seems nuts, but awesome! I guess I never really beleived we would ever finish school.
But Congratualtions Javi! Thanks for the last 3 awesome years! And a great big welcome to our new little Sam!

We have no internet.

I just wanted to write this quick update just in case some of you are curious to find out what happened with Javier's health saga. Well the tests pointed fairly conclusively that his illness was a reaction to something in our apartment (probably mold) so we moved out. We spent a week with my parents in Boise, a week with my grandparenst in Salt Lake and now we have been at an extended stay place for about a week and we'll probably be there for a couple more. It is way better than we thought it would be. Evrything has turned out just fine. My only complaint is that there is nothing to do but watch TV all day and it smells like cigarette smoke a little. But we can deal with that. It is short period of time. And the best part is that Javier has been healthy on no medication for 3 WEEKS! That is a big deal and I am breathing easier every day thinking that maybe we really are past this. What an amazing blessing! So, I am officially today more pregnant than I have ever been before and we're expecting the baby any pretty much time. We don't have internet  in our hotel though, so dont expect another post for probably 3 weeks. Love you  all!

Update

We are doing much better. Thank you so much for your prayers and concern. Javier is back from the hospital, but the doctor's still don't really have any idea what it is that he keeps getting. It is pneumonia, but it isn't normal pneumonia. The doctor did a bronchoscopy on him and he said his lungs look different than in normal pnuemonia and the fluid is different than normal. Plus it comes on all of the sudden, not gradually like it would in normal Pnuemonia. So they don't really know what it is. Their new best guess is that maybe it is coming from something in our apartment. Therefore, we are now in Boise. Javier isn't on any medicine and we are seeing if he gets better just by being away from our apartment. So, thats the update. Its just a guess. I am of course terrified, but we're giving this hypothesis our best shot. Wish us luck.

There and back again

Javier is in the hospital again. Would you please pray for him? I'm sure everything will be fine. I'll post again when I know anything. I love you all. Thank you.

A month ago this handsome wonderful man had a birthday!!!!
There was much celebration! We love our daddy and we had a great time celebrating the momentous and wonderful occasion of his birth (the best day of my pre-life, the day my sweet companion entered the world)
The next day our best friends Chris and Cecile Green from the first year we were married came to see us for a weekend and we had so much fun! It was a crazy confirmation that we actually did live and do things before Max was born! Unbelievable!!
Then I headed off to Austin and found us a dwelling place on this lovely street. (Yes that does say Rainbow cove. I know you will all be jealous of that awesome address, or at least your 3 year old will be). I couldn't believe how incredibly blessed we were that that 2 day trip out there was actually successful!! Amazing!
I came back in time to rush my sweet husband to the emergency room. We all thought he was going to die for a couple days. There is really nothing I can say to describe those days except to say how very very much I love my dear Javi. I want to be with him forever and ever and I am so desperately grateful to know that we can be together forever!! I hope part of that forever will be a long life together on Earth, where he can see our children grow and be there to share all life's experiences with. I never knew just how much I love this sweet man until I felt that desperate fear. But no more about that.
Said sweet husband spent 4 days in the hospital recovering from this terrifying bout of pneumonia and we were so grateful to meet the wonderful Dr. Peirce who promised us he would get to the bottom of this strange recurring illness within 2 weeks. WE ate our fill of complimentary oreos and sodas. Max began to think these food items were much more appropriate for his tastes than, say... anything else. (Bless my dear friend, Ariel Marshall, who I think fed him the only healthy meal he ate that whole week while she babysat him for 5 hours one day). Also bless my sweet visiting teacher who watched Max everyday while he took a good nap at home, so that I could stay with Javier in the hospital and Max could get some good rest, and our friends the Jacobs who came to see us in the hospital and brought us dinner, and Especially my angel Daddy, who drove all the way down from Boise to help us out and do our laundry, and give Max a fun grandpa to think about instead of the boring scary hospital. I think poor Max had the hardest time. He really worried about Javier when he was in the hospital. Every night he would cry for Daddy a million times until I called him on the phone and let them talk. Max never talks on the phone when there is actually someone on the other end, but when he talked to Javier he talked like crazy saying , "gracias, I love you, ni-night, Daddy". I think he summed it up best the night Javier got home from the hospital. We were all sitting on the couch together and Max started pointing to each of us. He said, "Daddy, Mommy, Max, Happeeee!"
We decided not to do anymore of this (playing outside) when we heard about all the illnesses going around our quad since Javier is on about 10 crazy medications which say they repress his immune system.
So we are currently spending lots of time trying unsuccessfully not to be too distracting to our poor Daddy, who is not only pretty much stuck at home, but pretty much stuck with all of our distracting normal life as he tries to get caught up with his school work.
I am starting to feel like Jaba the hut, since all the stress of that crazy month has (at least Im pretty sure) nearly put me into labor a few times, so Ive been spending lots of time hanging out on the couch trying to convince Max to bring me everything I need.

So can I just say that I feel so incredibly blessed! I never doubted that the Lord would take care of us. He always has! But I never in my wildest dreams would have thought through all this that EVERYTHING would turn out okay. That Javier would recover and be fine and get a great doctor, that no Bucheli babies would be born, That we even were able to find a beautiful place to live once we get to Texas, that through this month I have learned so much and had the opportunity to really think a lot about Javier and how lucky I am to have him, and to think about God and what an incredibly loving and merciful father he really is and to feel his love for me and all my family so strongly. I know I don't deserve any of those blessings, but ALL of them? I feel so very humbled. So if you hear me talk about all this and think I am being a little nonchallant about the whole thing, just remember I have so much to be grateful for! How can I help from being cheerful now that it has all turned out so well, at least for now. I guess it isn't over yet, but things look very good now, where a week and a half ago they looked pretty bleak, so life is good!

Getting ready for our Baby!

So this is the only belly shot of me that has ever been taken. We never even got one when I was pregnant with Max. So, this was a couple weeks ago. I went to the doctor last week and it was a little frustrating. I have been feeling so good lately, barely any contractions, more energy, everything has been awesome and I haven't really been worried about this baby making an unexpected appearance any time soon, but my doctor is still worried, and he gave a me a list of all these things Im not supposed to do anymore. Lame lame. Since then ironically the contractions have gotten crazy go nuts, so I guess he was right although even doing nothing doesn't really seem to help. My mom and Natalie totally had lots of contractions like this too and their babies were born in the normal range (except Maddie and Sophie of course, but they were twins) SO Personally, I think Max was probably just a fluke and all my other babies will probably be late, despite all the contractions. I suppose only time will tell.
My cute visiting teachee has been letting me watch her brand new baby a couple times a week while she tries to finish her degree (bless her) and it has been the most awesome thing in the whole world. I highly recommend babysitting a newborn to anyone who is expecting another baby, especially if you already have kids. Max has been able to get used to babies kind of gradually. In the beginning he was so confused and interested and frustrated with her, that he just seemed nuts every time she came, and then after a couple hours she was able to go home with her Mommy and we could try again in a few days. He is getting so much better every time now. He still loves her, but he's better able to give her a little space. He doesn't expect he'll be able to hold her anymore and scream when I wont let him and he totally gets that he can sit on my lap and she can be on my lap and thats okay. No need to push her off. It has also been really nice for me to adjust my expectations and remember what it is like to take care of a newborn (a little harder than I was remembering). Now when she comes it is just so fun, we don't want her to go home. I think it makes us all excited for our new little guy to come and get to stay at our house.

Max also thinks it is so funny to copy everything she does. I think its funny when he does it too actually. A 2 year old's impersonation of a Baby, Awesome.

The garbage boy!

Little Max has become our dear little garbage boy. He has become so excited about the garbage can that I haven't had to throw anything away in 2 weeks. I just hand whatever needs disposing of to little Max and watch him waddle over to the garbage and toss it in. Its amazing! Especially dirty diapers. He just rolls over after a changing, picks up the stinky one and takes care of it. He also throws tissues in the toilet (everything in its place).
Actually Max has been my little helper in general lately. They taught him the cleanup song in nursery (bless them) and so now several times a day Max will start his tuneless version of clean-up, cleanup and start putting toys away and picking up. This is an excellent development! The funniest thing is the way he tries to help with some of the more deep cleaning. Lately, every time I go in the bathroom, I find the toilet brush sitting in the toilet bowl, and whenever I pull out the vacuum, Max gets his car and follows me around, pushing the car like a vacuum, he makes sure to cover every inch of ground right behind me (as we trip over eachother many times).
The other day, I was enjoying his new helpfullness, and I may have gotten a little carried away. The house was pretty messy, and I just kept telling him, "throw this away" put that in the basket" until finally he sat down on the ground and looks at the trash I was asking him to toss and said emphatically, "No Way!" Then he let out a little groan and rolled his eyes and pulled himself up and threw it away anyway. I died laughing!
